2008 Kickoff Party:

Deborah reported that the band for the evening will be “Simple Rhythm”. Peter reported that the location for the party will be the VFW hall located at 8990 Kruitof Way, Fair Oaks, CA 95628 with a total cost of $200.00 to the Club.  “Hangar 17” was unanimously voted to cater the event by the Officers and Board Members in attendance.  Absolute cost for set-up, catering, servers and linens will be $4,072.95, including an allowance made for 60 extras dinners on an as-needed basis.  A list of hotels in the vicinity of the VFW was compiled by Deborah and will be added to the Evite by Bruce for member reference.

The decorations committee was elected and will be headed by Margie Earle and Leah Serrao and supported by Deborah Ramirez, Susan Moneymaker and Norlene Cook.  The budget for decorations is $200.00 and will be supplemented by previous years’ Kickoff Party decorations.

Melanie Herman was elected to head the raffle prize committee.  Motion was made by Peter and seconded by Carl to have a grand finale cash prize of 50% of the cash proceeds from the night’s raffle ticket sales.  Motion carried.

Formal name badges to be provided at the Kickoff Party were suggested for club members.  With a cost of approximately $8.00 per badge, it was agreed that the Club’s current fiscal standing would not permit such an expense.  Decision was made to revisit the issue at a later date and consider raising future dues to cover such member benefits.  Bruce will prepare the usual clip-on/hanging badges for this year’s party using badge covers from prior events.

Motion was made and seconded to extend two invitations (four dinners) to non-members, but avid Club supporters, Bud Camper (Sacramento Marina Manager) and Stan (West Marine employee).  Motion carried.

Honorary Memberships:

Motion was made by Peter and seconded by Dale to extend honorary memberships to webmaster Randy Holiday and his wife and to the Mayor of Old Sacramento.  Motion carried.

Annual Spring Brunch:

Rio City Cafe in Old Sacramento was approved as the location for the Club’s Annual Spring Brunch.  Leah will solicit the restaurant for prizes for the Kickoff Party raffle.

Officers’ Liability Insurance:

An insurance broker has been contacted by Peter regarding liability insurance coverage for Club Officers.  Club funds will be used to cover the cost of the policy.

Motion made and seconded to adjourn at 9:05 p.m.  Motion Carried.
