Commodore's Corner
We have a Great summer planned for you this year. Memorial day will kick it off with a Champagne Brunch. The water is pretty high but we will make due. Come on out and see old friends that you may not have seen since last summer. Following right on the heels of Memorial Day is the annual Birthday Cruise. This year we changed the venue and will be visiting Marina West YC located at Tower Park. This will be a great cruise down the Georgiana Slough to Tower Park. Fleet Captain Stacey Reichenberg is the event chair. On July 23rd we have the always popular Dinghy Run and BBQ hosted by Rear Commodore Chris Kerhulas. Tune up those Dinghys and sharpen your water cannon aim for this great event. September 4th will be the Labor Day Brunch, this will be hosted by Vice Commodore Paul Russell. What a great way to finish off the last long weekend of the Summer. The final event for year is the Friendship Cruise to SYC. Port Captain Matt Smith is the liaison with this SYC hosted event.
During August and September we will be seeking members to run for office for the 2012 Board. Normally I as immediate past Commodore, would be heading the nomination committee. Because I am currently a Flag officer I cannot! Peter Robertson will be heading the Nomination Committee and will be looking for volunteers to help. Please consider being a CCYC Officer or Director, it lets you help make this a better club. I have thoroughly enjoyed my years serving this great club and like to think I have helped it grow. But every organization needs new blood and new ideas! You could be that new idea and vision. On November 5th Staff Commodore Carl Cook will host the Hot Toddy party and election results. Terry will formally hand the reins over to the new Commodore, his officers and directors.
Thank you,
Commodore Bruce Moneymaker
