Commodore's Corner

Welcome to another great CCYC summer!!!  We have many great events this summer.  Starting with the Memorial Day Brunch on May  30th .  Rear Commodore and Treasurer  Paul and Michelle Russell  are coordinating this great event. Then Fleet Captain Terri O’Connor is our host for the 18th CCYC Birthday cruise.  This will be June 11th-13th it is our only long distance cruise so get those boats out.  Director Ron Eddlemon will be hosting our Dinghy Run this year on July 24th.  Then to finish the summer of “official” events Vice Commodore Terry Reigelsperger will have the Labor Day Champagne Brunch.

And if that were not enough I have tasked Rear-Commodore Paul Russell with creating weekly get-together's out on the river.  These will be fun informal get-together's either Saturday afternoon –evening or Sunday morning.  It maybe a themed cocktail, snack or potluck dinner just something for everyone to get together.  You will also start seeing the CCYC Banner and Burgees flying from the river more often.  We are trying to let everyone know that CCYC is out on the river and you are welcome to join us.  In May during the Raft-ups we have signed up 5 new members.  One boat was a young couple that had visited the web site filled out an application but never sent it in.  They were kind of hanging out below the raft-up and we took the dinghy over and invited them to raft up.  They signed up right then.    So if you see a lone boat out on the river invite them to join you.  It is always great to meet new boating friends.  That is why we are “The Fun Club”  Make sure you look for events and news on the www.CCYC.net or the Capital City Yacht Club Facebook page.

The CCYC website has many new features now we have a Forum to discuss boating topics and a Photo site that you can post your photos on.  If you need a sign on to post pictures just let us know at webmaster@ccyc.net

Let’s have a great Summer
