Commodore's CornerNovember 12, 2007 FROM THE BRIDGE: Good Morning and Happy Sweet Sixteen to you! Yup, the FUN CLUB is 16 years old! First, please help me give a big “Thank You” too all of the 2007 Officers and Directors who did such a great job of making our 15th year a memorable one indeed. Sherry, it was the year of a great group of buoys! Next, I would like to introduce the 2008 Board of Directors and Bridge you elected and installed at the Hot Toddy Party on October 21, 2007. Thank you Bruce and Susan Moneymaker for hosting the Hot Toddy Party, it was a smash hit! To Business, the 2008 CCYC Board and Officers are a follows: Commodore: Peter Robertson Vice-Commodore: Carl Cook Rear Commodore: Bruce Moneymaker Fleet Captain: Dale Smith Port Captain: Rod Earle Measurer: Al Prine Secretary: Leah Serrao Treasurer: Deborah Ramirez Director: Melanie Herman Director: John Martin Junior Staff Commodore and Director: Sherry Junker-Gouweloos Staff Commodore and Director: Mike Gouweloos Many thanks goes to the 2007 Nominating Committee, Buck Buchanan, Berty Crittenden, Mike Gouweloos, Bruce Moneymaker, and Dale Smith who worked so very hard to come up with this year’s slate. They typify the “can do-will do” volunteer attitude that makes CCYC run as the FUN CLUB! On the immediate future is the HOLIDAY LIGHTED BOAT PARADE on December 1, 2007. Dale Smith has invited all the local area Yacht Clubs from the Foothills, Folsom Lake, and the River to DECORATE their boats and join the parade. You will be getting an EVITE with the details soon. The bridges have been contacted and should be open-- think MEG-A-WATT and TALL! This year’s parade should be bigger and better than ever. A new partner has joined CCYC to promote this year’s event. The OLD SACRAMENTO BUSINESS ASSOCIATION, represented by Nancy Mallory, approached CCYC to participate with the 2007 Parade. The O.S.B.A. is promoting the CCYC event at their member establishments and websites. They have arranged a Judges’ Stand on the Delta King. Al Prine will be honchoing the judging chores on the Delta King. Crystal and Jim Spencer have also volunteered to judge as well. I’m sure bribes are welcomed! .... Kidding, just kidding. The Club will be awarding prizes for the Best Decorated Boats over and under 30 feet as well as MEG-A-WATT and Best Overall. We will be having a “Chili-Dog” feed, sponsored by Preferred Yacht Sales, on “B” Dock at Miller when we return. Thank you Rod Earle and Joe Matney! Table space with power will be available if you want to kick in some of your wonderful appetizers. So don’t be wallflowers, grab your friends, decorate your boat, and come out for a night of family fun. What lies ahead for CCYC in 2008? YOU TELL US. First, we need your help on this one. The BOD and events committee needs to hear from you on what you want to do. Do you want to cruise the Delta to other yacht clubs or to simply anchor out? Would you like to cruise on land for wine tasting, boat shows, the River-Cats or to Apple Hill in the fall? A member survey will be coming to you shortly; it’s for you to let us know what you want to do with your cruising time and money. We work for you! Along those lines, please start thinking about a Club Community Project for next year as well. About the ROSTER, please check the roster and zap Al Prine at: alprine@hotmail.com with an email if you have any changes to your vitals: email, cell number, boat name, first mate, or home address. We like to use EMAIL and EVITES as our primary contact method to keep you informed about Club events and news. It’s fast and it really helps to keep down our overhead costs. If you do not have EMAIL, we will be happy to send you info via U.S. Mail. Thank you all for your support of “CCYC, the FUN CLUB!” We look forward to having a “Great Boating Season” this year! Peter Robertson, Commodore aboard St. Somewhere
