Welcome to the

Capital City Yacht Club!

CCYC is Sacramento's enthusiastic club of fun-loving recreational boaters.  We're glad you stopped by and hope you spend a moment to check out our web-site. CCYC 's primary mission is FUN.  A dramatic departure from the formalities and rituals of a traditional yacht club, CCYC is dedicated to the satisfaction of its members' spirit of fun and enjoyment on the water.  So no matter if you're a salty old veteran or a newcomer to boating, we welcome you to catch a glimpse of the fun that's had on the rivers and sloughs of Sacramento as a member of CCYC .  If you like what you see, inquire about becoming a member by visiting the membership section and visit our Facebook page  !!

ABOUT

ABOUT

Originally founded in 1993 under the name Walnut Grove-Capital City Yacht Club. Shortly after that, it became officially just “Capital City Yacht Club,” Capital City Yacht Club (CCYC) is now 100+ members strong and growing at a fast pace.  As of 1996 CCYC has been accepted into the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association (PICYA), an association of reciprocal yachting clubs. CCYC was the first club accepted into PICYA in the second century of that organization. Based out of Sacramento Marina, CCYC is a organized as non-profit corporation with the traditional array of Officers and Directors.

While CCYC does not maintain an official club house facility, the club is based out of Sacramento Marina, which is also referred to as Miller Park.  On any given summer weekend you can find a good number of members at "Potluck Beach" which is located on the American River about 1 mile upstream from Discovery Park (where the Sacramento and American rivers meet).  Look for boats flying the CCYC burgee, most of which will be rafted-up in the river near Potluck Beach  or be stern-ended into Potluck Beach.  Make sure you stop by and say "HI".

MEMBERSHIP

Q: Do you have to own a boat to join?
A: NO, but you'll want to after you've been on a few! Becoming a member is a great way to make friends with boat owners and become familiar with boating before becoming a captain on your own vessel of any size.

Q: Do you have to be rich to join a Yacht Club?
A: Absolutely not! CCYC prides itself on being a friendly, "snob-free" yacht club with a very reasonable annual fee.

Q: How many people are included per membership?
A: One boat and/or 1-2 people per membership are assumed.

Q: What responsibilities will be expected of me?
A: To have fun in joining the club activities of your choosing. Volunteers are always welcome, but never expected.

Q: How much is the membership dues?
A: Current membership dues are $140.00 per year. This covers October 1st thru September 30th. Full membership dues are due on October 1st. New members are also assessed a one time application fee of $40.00 which also includes a club burgee. Starting October 1st 2023 dues will be going up to $160.00 per year to help with the rising costs.

Q: What's included in my membership?
A: For your modest annual fee, you will receive: Invitation to monthly club events, annual dinner party, reciprocal rights to other PICYA clubs, roster listing published annually in yachting yearbook and club sponsored contribution to the RBOC.

Q: Is there a late fee assessed to delinquent membership dues?
A: Yes. All members have a 30 day grace period to pay their dues renewal. Dues paid after the 30th of October shall be assessed a $10.00 late fee. Dues not paid by November 30th shall be cause for deletion from the roster and said members must reapply for membership as a new member.

Q: How long does the application process take?
A: Approximately 4-6 weeks. Once an application and associated fees are received the application is put before the board for review and approval. Once approved, a new member packet will be mailed. In the rare case that an application is denied all monies paid shall be returned to the applicant.
